'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from outside the box, and his teammate quickly converted the loose ball before charging toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result completed an extraordinary turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. In the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win earned a upcoming game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right flank after they changed formation. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It requires a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for his team and nation, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks an incredible journey for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to conditions of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a minibus driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would mix with supporters on London's Central line after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
